SMM Student Chapters are a means for communities of students interested in marine mammalogy to connect, network, discuss research, and share ideas.  Several motivated groups of student have taken the initiative and the websites for their SMM Student Chapters can be found below.  See if there's a Student Chapter in your area!

Not a Student Chapter in your area?  You are encouraged to start your own!  Previously, SMM Student Chapters have encompassed broad geographic regions.  While such regional Student Chapters are still welcome, some groups of students may be better served by more localized Student Chapters, which are also encouraged.

The SMM Board of Governors adopted the following policy for initiating Student Chapters:
- The Student Member-at-Large is to encourage and be involved in the formation of SMM Student Chapters.
- Students intending to start an SMM Student Chapter should complete this APPLICATION FORM and mail it to the Student Member-at-Large.
- Student Chapters must follow these GUIDELINES in order to remain affiliated with the SMM.
